I think I may have hit my sweet spot. A week ago I went for another fill and now have 8.5cc in my band. Up until yesterday, I've been getting stuck a couple times a day on random foods...even ones I shouldn't have and I've been very very careful about taking small bites and chewing well. My meals were about 1/2 cup or less (lunch one day was 3 boiled shrimp) and one bite more than that and I felt like my food was in my throat. I stuck it out though, waiting to see if it was just swelling or if I actually needed to get .25cc taken out.

As of yesterday morning, the problems have all gone away but I'm still restricted...I think.

For Breakfast yesterday, I had my Protein Shake. Another one mid-morning. For lunch I had 3 fish fish sticks and 1/2 cup of grapefruit (Del monte cups). For dinner I had a 3 oz baked fish filet and 1/2 cup of broccoli. Oh and Protein shakes between meals but not in the evening.

Today, I had a Protein shake for breakfast. My husband took me to lunch and I had a small bite of his cuban (sandwich), 3 sweet potato fries and a cup of seafood chowder. For dinner, 1/2 of a bacon and egg on toast (homemade bread sliced thin). No Protein Shakes between meals today.

I *think* this means I've hit my sweet spot and I should cancel my fill for next week and just try this out for awhile. It just feels good to be able to eat again after almost a week of hardly eating anything! I finish my meals within about 25 minutes and I'm not drinking with them and I'm 'content' but wouldn't say I feel full. There's just something that tells me if I take one more bite, I'll regret it. I am 'full' for 4-5 hours after meals.

I have to admit though that after a week of eating almost nothing, I feel like I'm pigging out.

I am right there with you. Same scenario almost. I had my third fill and went two weeks without being able to eat at all and then went and got 1/2 cc out. I was really tight still but able to eat a little.

In the last two to three days I haven't been getting the stuck feeling and have eaten small portions of normal meals. It feels great and I have restriction and I also feel like I'm overdoing it after only being able to take three or four bites.

I think we've hit the sweet spot!!!!!

I always kind of thought the sweet spot was where you and the band had become good friends. It sounds like you are there. Enjoy it! And congratulations!

Shrimp is one of those foods that are hard to pass through the band. So if you can eat them on a good day when the band is loose your lucky. They are like white bread to me. Also anything with breading on it is a not a food I can eat food. But I know we are all different. I just have to remember I am on a diet or a life style change. I don't like to PB ever. I have slipped a band and it sucks.

Follow the band rules and you will win your battle. It has been me and the band for 13.5 months and still going. good times and bad times.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
