:confused:Hi guys. I haven't been on this site in years. Sorry about that. I had LB surgery in Nov 06. The first 24 months I lost 50 lbs (which felt great). I would have been thrilled to lose 25 more and be done. I was too tight and had fill removed to be prudent.

I have had at least 10 fills over 18 months and not getting appropriate restriction. Now I'm wondering if I have a leak as within 2 weeks of no restriction after last fill, there was less fill in my band. I was given more and asked to return in 2 weeks. If still no restriction, they will do fill under fluoro.

So...does anyone have experience with leaks? I have tried to find info. Looks like if it's the band it's a big deal (replacement--but those are 5% of the time. The more common appear to be tubing or port. The port surgery seems reasonable and relatively simple. Help???

Waiting to see what kind of feedback you'll get becase I might be having the same problem. I have my band for less than a year and I seem to be fine for 3-4 weeks after the fill and then lose my restriction. Last time I had a fill my doc mesured what I had in before giving me a fill and I had 2.5cc less than I left his office with 2 month before.

I have flioro apprt in 3 weeks. Will see.... as of right now I still have the restriction from the 3-weeks ago fill.

I am getting my port replaced next week. They think my port is leaking. Could have been an issue with the needles.

I'm hoping it's my port as that surgery seemed minor? Putting the 'how to pay for it aside' -- how much did you have to go through to prep for surgery this time? Will they take all your fill out and make you start again? Did you have to have all that pre-op stuff again? I'm worrying to death about this and the surgeon's office is reluctant (and I understand why) to go down any of these paths before we figure out what is going on. Any info would be appreciated though.

Hello. I have just had mine repaired for the third time. I lost 30 kilos then no restriction and the needle didnt have a bounce in it. Went for surgery and had it repaired (the tubing had come away from the port). Went for a fill and same thing, another leak. Was too expensive to fix again, so left it 4 years until now. Went for a die xray to see where the leak was which was inclusive, then went for local surgery where i was opened up and did an exloratory to see if it was the port again, wasnt. So last week went in for full surgery. The surgeon found the tubing broken in two places so it was in three pieces. He repaired it and put die in to see if it was leaking anywhere else. Was not. So hopefully it is fixed. Am pretty sore, didnt have to do any pre-op diet and he only put a bit of fill in so i can eat anything, until everything settles down and i go for post op appointment then the fill will follow. Hopefully all is good. So i think i have answered ur questions. If he had to replace the whole device then the after surgery diet would have been different as the stomach would have been bruised etc. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
