Please help - what's going on..

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Tuesday, the 9th and since then really have not ate to much of anything besides popsicles. Last night I ate some Soup and pudding for the first time and afterwards got terrible sick, sever pains, throwing up (mostly mucus) and hurt so bad. I thought that I had a blockage and that everything had gone away. When I woke up today had some Water and that went down fine, then went to have some soup, took one bite and the pain and vomitting was back. What is going on with me and what do I need to do? I know I need to start eating here pretty soon since it has been over three days since surgery. Please help!!!

Sorry to hear that your not doing well. :scared2:

After my surgery I was only allowed to eat Clear liquids like broth, Jello, posicles.. for 1 whole week. Then I started mushies..like creamy Soups and oatmeal pudding..

What kind of Soup are you trying to eat? Your body is healing right now, so you have to be super careful.

What kind of Soup? Creamed and strained, or with chunks/bits of solids? If the latter, it sounds to me as though you might have had a stuck incident last night, and still be irritated today.

I'd stick with liquids today---for me, warm goes down easier---and ease into eating more slowly.

If the vomiting is still going on, and you're not keeping liquids down, please call your doctor.

If you can keep fluids down, you don't really have to worry about hurrying to get more food in. Your body will be fine if you take it slow.

I haven't had surgery yet but I've been told: clear liquids 4 days post op (popsicles are good), Protein or "full" liquids (only things to drink) 10 days after that, then blenderized foods (things you eat with a spoon) like Soup for another 10 before starting mushies. Maybe don't rush on the food if you are still swolen post op. I've seen a variey of recommendations but I'd give yourself time to heal. Good luck!

That is terrible!

During the first 14 days, I was instructed to only eat Protein shakes, Jello, posicles and Clear Liquids such as broth. Not sure what kind of Soup you are eating but perhaps you should try some broth. I know my taste buds were in heaven when I did becasue everything else tasted sweet and I'm not really into the sweet stuff.

Oh, another think eat really slow and stop once you feel full. Believe me your body will tell you when you are.

Good Luck!

I agree, call your dr. As for my first week, I survived on popsicles, gatorade and warm chicken broth. the warm chicken broth the most though because it tasted like normal people food and was warm and filling. good luck!

That seems a little weird to me. I was banded on 2/4/10 and have had full liquids from day one without any problems and switched to mushy foods on day 8 per my doc. I am obviously not a doctor but your experience is much different than mine. If it were me I would call the doc.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
