tryingtofindme 0 Posted February 12, 2010 I would love to have the Lap Band but don't know for sure if I would qualify, medically that is. My BMI is right at 40 but as far as health wise I don't have any issues. My sugar is good. Though - I've been told I snore like a "freight train". Is this the first place I should start? Seeing if I have sleep apnea? Should I go to a Band Seminar first? I’ve talked with my family Dr and he’s all for having the Band done. I would have to get approval from my insurance. Don’t I have to have medical issues also to get approved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:scared2:
BetsyB 9 Posted February 12, 2010 Does your insurance require comorbidities for a BMI of 40 or above? 40 was the cut-off for mine; the weight alone was sufficient to proceed. Start at the beginning. Find a good doctor. His or her staff will know exactly what to do to get you approved. You can let them worry about :scared2:
numbr1wmn 0 Posted February 12, 2010 Find out what your insurance covers. I was 39 and I was covered. Like Betsy said, find a good doctor
