Hello everyone my name is Zhanna and I just had my surgery on November 17 with dr Shayani, IL.

The surgery went fine, Dr S is great and very good in what he does. I am enjoying my liquids now for 3 days:) and they are going down fine. I still have some soreness in my port area and gas in my chest but overall it is not bad. I move around take walks for about 20 minutes outside.

Can not wait to move to a next step my mushi/blanderized food to see what happens

Zhanna,

Glad to hear you are doing so well post-op. Don't push it with solids for a few weeks which is what Inamed suggests. The mushy stage is great with many, many options. You're still healing so take it easy. My port area still bothers me but I had my first fill today and saw for myself on the fluoroscope at the hospital that everything is in the right place 12 weeks post-op. Did your surgeon's office give you an Inamed Lap-Band Post-OP package with a card for your wallet, and booklet Living with the Band, Longterm? You also get to register with Inamed and get a free gift too. If not, demand it and tell the office to request it from Inamed. I asked if there was anything new for patients today at the office after the fill and got mine. We really have to be pro-active and advocates for ourselves with the band. Look forward to hearing from you on the site. Heal and enjoy the pounds melting off at this stage.

Wendy

Thank you Wendy for your sugestion regarding I NAMED registration. I denfinetly will ask my surgeon about it!

Keep in touch

Ashanti,

I started mushi as well already. I tried Mash potatoes, creamy Soups, yogurt, and cottage chese. It went down fine. I do feel restriction between 4-6 oz though. What about you? I get this pinch or a bit of a pain in my chest and I stop!

Good Morning Zhanna,

I did have the puree Soup for dinner a cup of chicken veg. Which was good puree with Both added, but then I really had a pain or pinch or something, it seems at the base of my thoath I don't know if I over did it with the soup are what, but it was that feeling that I had on the day after surgery and the Dr. said it was because my thoath was sore from were they had put in tools to look in the thoath doing surgery. Any way I think I will stay with the liquids until I see the Dr. on Tuesday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
