I suddenly get it.....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I agree with "it clicked",:crying: my surgeon and allllll the people involved with my banding preached that this is only a tool. Hee hee, I tihnk I had selective hearing also. I knew I had to eat better and make better choices,,BUT sometimes, here and there, I conveniently FORGOT:blink: those rules. I havent gained any of my lost weight back but im not losing either. SO at my last Doc visit and my 4th fill my DOc blasted :cursing:me and blasted me good:blushing:. She said I need to start working the band, not wait for my sweet spot to work it for me. I go back in the first week of March for another fill and im worried she wont give it to me unless I lose some weight so guess what? "CLICK" :tt2:im working it, no weight loss but my pants are looser in 3 weeks,,,somethings happening:biggrin:. Eating better and working out YAY!!!!! Finally getting into a routine.

I wont say I went through bandster hell, bacause I was perfectly content being able to eat what I was eating and NOT gain any weight,,,but now Im working and liking the results.:scared2:

I love this post and yes it just clicked for me last wk. I started my diet on the 3rd and one wk later I lost 5lbs I love my band now that I know what to do and eat lots and lots of protien. Yeah it's only been a wk, but all I have been doing is baking all my meats eating no greasy foods and the weight is starting to go down yaay. The thing about it during this time I cheated and still lost, but when I did cheat yes it was in moderation and I pushed the food away after a few bites. Now my big challenge is V-day my hubby is taking me out to our favorite spot and I am going to ask for boxes as soon as my food comes out and put a small amount on my plate and take the rest home for my hubby to eat later.

Okay everyone, I get it. I have been dieting since I got the band. I have lost 41 pounds but I am tired of dieting. (Surgery Sept 22, 2009)

I have had four fills and still little restriction. What am I missing? I did this on Weight Watchers. I expected more from the band.

That must be very frustrating! It sounds like what you're missing is restriction. Will your surgeon continue to work with you until you achieve appropriate restriction?

This is an awesome post! I am 4 weeks post-op and lost weight the 1st 2 weeks but haven't lost any since. When I was losing, my calorie intake was about 700 per day. I think I "selectively heard" on some of these posts that my calorie count was too low and I was putting my body into starvation mode. It was license for me to eat what I wanted....combine that with the fact that the swelling had gone down and I now have no restriction. This led me to eating about 1500 calories per day. And exercise is limited right now to walking until I see the doctor again so not expending a lot of calories. So to sum up, it is no surprise I have not lost weight in the past 2 weeks!

I now have a different mindset that I need to work at this as if I don't even have the band right now. In other words, I need to eat less, limit carbs, and exercise as much as I can. Been doing it for 3 days now and I think it is already working!

Thank you so much to the OP for this post - it has been an inspiration to me!

you're definitely right.....we need to keep our diet and watch what we eat practically every day. it is a difficult journey, and it takes a lot of willpower but for some reason you got it and that'll help you be very successful.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
