Misty 1 Posted November 21, 2003 I've decided the lap band is the option for me, however I was wondering about supplimentation. How many suppliments do you take daily? Thanks, Misty
Alexandra 55 Posted November 21, 2003 Hi Misty, Wendy's right, lots of banded people don't take supplements at all if they're eating a normal amount of food. The band makes me eat less than I was eating before surgery, but not the sort of two-ounces-at-a-time meals you hear about RNY patients eating. That said, I do take Vitamins, and always have. I don't know where I got the idea that I should, but I know they can't hurt. I was told today I should add a Calcium supplement, which I might do. But that's not because of the band, it's because of my age and general aversion to milk. Good luck with everything, and keep us posted!
jadrad7 0 Posted November 21, 2003 My doctor recommends 2 childrens chewable Multivitamins daily. It's easy to do and not too expensive.
Misty 1 Posted November 21, 2003 Thank you. I'm not against them, I just know myself and I'm irregular when it comes to Vitamins and suppliments so that's another reason the RNY just isn't right for me. I hate taking pills. So it's good to know it's more of a choose to do kind of thing. I've been researching this for about 2 years. Couldn't decide for the longest time. Now I know what I want, I just need things to come together so I can go for it. Thank you all.
BEBBLY 1 Posted November 21, 2003 I take 1 Vitamin B-12 to keep up my energy, 2 Calcium and 2 Flinstones chewable. My doctor recommended it after the band. He wanted me to take it for a few weeks until I was off liquids and back on regular food. I still take it because it tastes good and it can't hurt anything to take a few Vitamins. leo 4 Posted November 24, 2003 I am taking flintstones now. I didn't at first but lately my hair is starting to fall out in a alarming rate. So I thought I better take those vitamins!
