Maybe fat people are cooler

Recommended Posts

OK we were all heading graveward eventually but let's put that aside for a second. In friends I like people who aren't shallow and vain. I like people who know how to enjoy themselves. I like people who appreciate good food. I like people who don't take themselves too seriously. I don't like huge egos. I don't like people who waste an inordinate amount of time on their appearance. I don't have any friends who are overweight (I live in a skinny city) but maybe I should. All of the above adds up to fat people being way cooler! Or in the case of this forum, formerly fat. Even better.

Never thought of it this way but I agree. Skinny people are usually bitches and assholes...lol. Please don't let me turn out to be that. I have lost weight many times before and I have gotten a swollen head but I hope I was never horrible.

Wow. This is a crazy thread. I know a lot of nice skinny people and nice larger people. I also know mean skinny people and mean overweight people. For example, I know this overweight person that I have to work with who is very mean, lazy, and bossy. However, I know a lot of skinny people who I wish were my family members because I love them that much.

Honestly, I think when an overweight person talks about skinny people in a mean way, I think they are jealous. We got ourselves this way. No one put a gun to our heads and said "Eat that donut or I'll shoot!" I mean, really? Focus on yourself and don't worry what others think because others aren't living in your shoes. Also, don't ever talk mean about someone because it always comes back around.

I was 99% joking. Sorry to offend! Of course good hearts and mean birches come in all shapes and sizes.

I know you're joking - I'm glad you're joking. But on a serious note that soooooo illustrates the one negative I've always felt about this community.

I never felt discriminated against becuase I was fat, but I sure as hell have felt so because I'm thin (sad to say that's often been here on this forum). Why do people assume all thin people are vain, shallow and self obsessed and waste their precious time hating or even thinking about fat people and how they can make them feel bad?. I think many obese people are just so down on themselves that they EXPECT others to treat them that way and then the way they behave brings it on.

who said all thin people had huge egos?

who has the right to assume that a thin person is that way by luck and can eat whatever they like, never exercise and stay thin? How would you know if they've ever been fat.

I often find that the people that think this way are the first to scream discrimination when someone doesnt want to sit next to their fat ass on a bus.

I'm with Jachut. It appears to be perfectly acceptable to rag on people re. weight on here. On another thread I am on, the op and others have found it perfectly acceptable to say rude things about someone due to their eating habits (vegetarian) and the size of their children (thin.) hypocrites.

I have been fat and I have been thin. My personality is mine regardless. I enjoy food regardless. I will continue to enjoy good fun, good food, cooking, etc., when I am thin again.

They just need to hang out with a better class of people...period. My husband's family are all thin and they are the nicest people I have ever known. Courteous, respectful and truly caring of others. I am so blessed to be a part of this family.

My family (aunts, uncles and cousins right on up to my grandparents) now...geez. With rare exception they are all overweight and all *biotches*. They're an advertisement for euthenasia. Hmmm...interesting. It just occurred to me that the sweet branch of my family are not overweight.

So much for stereotypes. :cursing:

Jachut,

I have to admit you were one of the first post I read when I came here and I thought "oh yeah look at that pic she's let it go straight to her head" then I read your signature and many more post later on through my many struggles. Now I know to get that rocking body you have to "shut your gob and move your ass!" and I'd post my pic up too!!!! I've also learned that you have been through things with the band and not left the newbies behind to fend for themselves. I hope to be like you when I'm all slim and trim!

I do try to get to know people first before I judge and I also know there can be b's and a's of every size. I'm sorry if my first post sounded harsh.

Joke or not this made me think. I can count the amount of friends I have lost through this. A few were heavy, the others I think aren't happy that I no longer make them look better since they are no longer standing next to a heavy person.

No matter who you are, where you are, your station in life, there is always someone hating and putting down. I love the saying "Put your big girl panties on and deal with it" no pun intended. Thick skin is best and throwing stones gets no one no where. It's ashame but part of life. Even in a forum where everyone should have the best of intentions to help others, it still exists.

Such an interesting thread with diverse responses and experiences. I remember mentioning to a dear friend (always very slender) that, due to illness "you are losing so much weight".

She was angry - responding that others had also mentioned "how thin she was becoming". Her opinion was that she would never say, "I can't believe how fat your getting". What makes people think they can comment on my losing weight.

A good point - and I took notice.

She was informational in her comment, not rude.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
