Hi everyone

I live in Perth Western Australia and was banded at the Mount Hospital on November 2nd 2009. I lost 4kg on the Optifast diet and am now up to 16kg. I am not sure how much of this has been due to the lapband and how much to sheer willpower and truth be known OUTRIGHT FEAR:scared2:.

I went to a talk prior to having the band fitted and the presenters were talking about blockages and PBs and it terrified me so much that I was determined never to experience them. I have pretty much cut out red meat altogether ( lucky I like fish) and haven't eaten bread since the op....I'm a real scaredy cat but couldn't bear the thought of the possible vomiting or having to go back and get the Fluid taken out of the band.

Having said that I haven't found everything too difficult. I was pretty sick after I came out of hospital but since about the 3rd week have felt really good. I have now had 2 fills and the second one has given me a bit of restriction.....roll on( or off) the next 16kgs....

Cheers

Jackie:thumbup:

Welcome aboard and congratulations on the weight loss!!

As far as I am concerned, it is all due to you making smart decisions. The lapband is a great tool but if you weren't using it right, you wouldn't lose a thing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
