20 lbs to my goal weight!!!! WooHoo! I'm soo excited. I hope I can get to it before my bandiversary. Then on to the maintenance phase. Which is just as hard or harder than losing to me.

Thanks for all the support.

Carbgirl, congratulation on your progress. You are so right about maintenance being difficult....we know how to gain and we know how to lose, but staying the same can be uncharted territory. With daily weight fluctuations I would get very nervous and tense until I gave myself a range of 3 pounds. If I exceed those 3 pounds I get back to strict logging of food and exercise and examination of where I might have gone wrong.

Good luck and best wishes.

Mimi

Mimi,

I totally agree. I will also give myself a 3 lb range. Anything above that I will be back and on track. In the past, when I've gained alot of weight I attribute most of it due to not weighing myself on a regular basis. Before I knew it, I'd be 50 lbs over weight. It was denial and I would avoid the scale. I can't let myself do that again. I will never be one of those skinny people that don't have to be vigilant and monitor every pound.

Congrats, carbgrl!!! That's so wonderful! I have been about 35 away from goal for the past 3 weeks LOL I feel like it's never going to happen. I'm honestly going by the book and working out, drinking tons of Water, making Protein requirements, etc. I am hanging in there though. That blasted scale has to move sometime, right?!?

Congrats again! Wonderful job! You'll be there before you know it!

BTW Btrieger--Your weightloss so far WITHOUT your band is very admirable. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. With how much you have put into this prior to surgery, I am sure you will be a success story :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
