Hi everyone! My name is Kira. I am 22 and I have made the decision to get the lap band. I am still totally new to all of this and to be honest, I have been more or less reading a LOT of the posts here and learning a lot! So I decided to go ahead and make an account here =)

I am married to an awesome, supportive husband and I have a 10 month old little boy named Quincy. He was born in April. I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy (most likely due to the fact I am very obese) 6 months later I had to go to the hospital for a rash and found out my gestational diabetes decided to hang around and turned into type 2. My nurse at the time dubbed it a "Hang over" because she too, had the same thing happen.

Well being a diabetic has of course put me at risk. I am having a very hard time losing weight. I weigh 325 pounds. My back goes out a lot.. and due to the weight I rarely have a monthly anymore. I hardly had one before I got pregnant so I like to think of my son as my little miracle.

I have been doing a lot of research lately and I think getting the lap band sound just like the jump start I need in order to get healthy. I made the mistake of talking to a group of friends about it and most of them were not supportive of my decision... of course, none of them knows what it is like to be over weight and all the struggles and medical problems that come with it. I have made it quite clear I am NOT doing this for cosmetic reasons... I am doing this purely for health reasons. I want to be alive to see my son (and hopefully a couple more children) grow up.

I am making an appointment to talk with my doctor about the surgery and I am keeping my fingers crossed he thinks it's a good idea as well. As I said, I am 22, 325 pounds, and I have type 2 diabetes. None of that sounds good at all. =

Anywho...sorry for babbling! I am super glad I found this site!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
