Hello All! I was banded this past Monday, Feb.1st. This is the first day that I am starting to feel "normal". Now that I am feeling better, I am starting to mourn my old foods and habits. Even though I am not physically hungry, my mind is craving hamburgers and donuts. Tomorrow is the SuperBowl and I am sad that I can't pig-out like the rest of America. I hoping that these feelings will start to pass in the next week or so once I can start eating soft foods. I am excited to have found this website and I hope it will help me on this journey.

I am thinking of having either the lapband or the vertical sleeve procedure. Where did you have this done and who was your Dr.? I am looking for recomendations:)

Thanks,

Beth

Hello!

Although it's true that you may have to give up certain foods, you may find that you can still enjoy them, just in smaller quantities.

I'm not going to say it's easy; head hunger can be a bear. What is exciting is the numbers on the scale going down. One day, sometimes one hour or minute at a time, that's what keeps me going.

As time passes you will find different ways to get you past the sad times when you really want to eat the way many of us used to.

I would encourage you to just keep posting, talk about it whenever it or anything else bothers you, and I know you'll get lots of encouragement here.

We have to unlearn habits that we've lived with for, in some cases, many, many years.

Good luck.

Debbie

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
