I'm really curious......

I'm pre-op and have been hanging around the boards for over a month....I'm getting all my testing done, jumping through the required hoops for my insurance company.....

and I see sooo many posts from people who are struggling with so many questions and issues, from relationships, to PBing, plateaus, pain, some have had it removed, just to have it re-installed

what percentage ( hence the poll) do not regret this choice, and would willingly make it again?

who thinks that this is the only option that would successfully help them lose the weight for good?

Does anyone still think they can lose weight on their own ( without the band)??

Is the pain, frustrations, and negative's completely overcome by the success of losing 50-75-100+lbs?!?!?!

has all of it inclusively been worth it?!??!

(thanks for letting me know your opinion)

I wish I knew it was an option a few year ago, I would have done it in a heartbeat, but thankful now that I have made this choice.

I feel so strongly that it was the best decision I ever made that I have absolutely zero regrets. Just let anybody try and take my band from me. I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!

I am 9 days post op and I have absolutely no regrets. I could lose the weight without the band, but I could never keep it off. As I have heard said over and over again on this board, the band is a tool and not a magic cure. I still have to make the right food choices and exercise. At least now I know that with God's help and the band, once I lose the weight, I will never gain it back again.

I have no regrets but I am glad I took a few years to decide.I was really informed and sure about what I was doing. The pros and cons. That helps. Plus I chose a practice with very good follow up.

I voted that I never have regrets, but I would prefer a choice that once in a great while I second guess myself.

I don't regret my decision to have WLS, but I do sometimes worry that my band might cause problems long term.

When I am in the middle of a stuck episode, I wonder if I should have done bypass instead.

These moments pass, and I am happy my blood pressure is normal, my blood sugar is normal, and my cholesterol is much improved. I am also no longer the largest person in the room. I don't feel like people are looking at what I am eating and thinking, "she shouldn't be eating that!"

And every time I put on my size 10 jeans...Oh Yeah!!!

My weight loss is slow compared to many, many others ... but I have absolutely no regrets ... except maybe that I wish I had done it sooner!

Interesting results!

28/31 = No Regrets

only 3 people sometimes ( less than 50%of the time)

out of 31 people, not one of you said they would have never done it.

I know that my decision should be based only on my own research, opinions, and conscience...... but it is nice to get a "feel" from those of you who have already been there!!!

thanks guys!!! seriously, keep it coming.

I love the band, but I do become concerned with flipped ports, band erosion, or band slippage. Would i do it again, absolutely down right YES. YES YES...

I'm only 3 months postop, but I have absolutely no regrets. I know I could not have lost the last 31 pounds without the band. Yes, I lost it without the band actually helping with restriction (although I think this last fill may have done it), but it was because I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
