Hi guys, does anyone know which health insurers cover the band? I have a band fitted but its too loose and at full capacity. I have no restriction and I'm so upset. My doc recommended getting private health insurance to get the new surgery. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

hi i was talking to my private health the other day as i need to have my band reviewed due to slippage, and they told me that as long as i have a medicare provider number they should be able to cover it, as it is a health issue or something along those lines. I'm not sure about other health insurances. i hope this helps in any way.

So which provider is that? Was there a waiting period for you?

What do you mean Medicare provider number? Do you mean the surgeon?

hi my private health is through Navy health, which i have has for years. So there isn't much of a wait for my review.

As for the medicare provider number its a number your given on a reciept and it helps you get a refund when you take it to medicare i think. There should be one for the assistant the surgeon and the anasethetist. You would need to ask your surgeon or go into medicare and ask.

Dear All.

I am new to this forum as am due to have my band fitted on 3/11/2010. Excited, nervous and anxious all together but trying to find out as much as possible prior to the operation. Trying to find out what to expect straight after the operation, what to eat etc. If anyone has any hints or suggestions, please feel free to offer them.
