Local & Long Distance Support

I had LAP-BAND® surgery and had worked with Jill Seward a fantastic nutrionist and coach.

I was looking for some tips on how to live with the band. Last fall I reconnected with her.

Jill created a program for me that included personalized menu planning. She got me back on track and keeping it off is easy. Most people find the holidays are a problem - they weren’t for me. Also, I have joined one of her support groups.

She’s a sweetheart. Jill is very motivational and brings compassion. I'm now living with the band. :sifone:

I agree; I worked with Jill over the last year and she has provided ongoing personal support and food planning. She is an excellent person to connect with; she will help you refocus and work toward and maintain your goals.

Thanks Big Al for starting this thread. I too have used Jill's wonderful services and credit her for giving me the motivation and support to succeed! I am in Georgina and Jill has always been willing to come up to me. I know she was running a group in Barrie as well.

I was banded three years ago and had worked with Jill before. I wanted to work with her again because I’d been struggling with my weight.

I found Jill on the internet despite having troubles spelling her last name – it’s Seward not Seaward!

She has a great LONG DISTRANCE program on the PHONE and it was in the evening. I don't like driving int the GTA (greater Toronto area).

I started with a 3 week commitment as I wanted to see if it would work and it did! We had weekly phone sessions for emotional and psychological obstacles and nutritional coaching. We reviewed my weekly progress.

Jill followed up with an email note and provided a detailed the menu plan and receipes. No body can create personalized menus like her!!

Jill really cares & I signed up for 6 weeks. I’m now successfully living with the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
