swish 0 Posted February 5, 2010 My insurance requires a 6 month pre op supervised weight loss program. I was on medifast for 6 months and went to my doctor to check in for weight every two months. Does anyone know if medifast is accepted by insurance companies. My insurance is Regence Blue Shield of WA. Also, what exactly does my doctor need to include in her letter. It is amazing that doctors are not sure what to put or how to make this easier for the patients. Any feedback would be appreciated, I want to do this right the first time. I don't know if I could handle an appeal.
btrieger 21 Posted February 5, 2010 It means a 6 month supervised diet by your bariatric surgeon and/or his staff. Not something you had in the past. And as far as making it easy; I don't know how mine could have been easier.
mimi368 0 Posted February 5, 2010 My insurance requires that the 6 month weight loss program be with a doctor not associated with the surgeon. I am using my GYN for this. They are all different!
