i have a pain in my abs near my port. it is in the inside and it just feels a little tight. just sore right there. i am only 4 days post op, so i figure this is probably normal. but i am curious if anyone else had anything similar to this.

i hope this makes sense, its kinda hard to describe

I had a lot of pain inside above my port. My port is on my left side a few inches to the side of my belly button and several inches below my ribs.

The pain was right below my ribs on the left side. I finally deduced it was gas pains. I still get it from time-to-time, but not nearly as bad.

I had and have all sorts of weird pains and I'm almost 10 days post op. Any pain around the port area I pass off as port pain. Any pain just below my breast bone I call band pain. Any other pain I'm calling gas!

I have named my band, her name is Frita Bandita. Sometimes Frita gets crabby and pinchs me to let me know she's there.

Yes it is normal--mine hurt in the exact same place as yours and didn't go completely away for 4 weeks! Good luck--it does get better!!

I had pain similar to this and I asked my doctor about it at my follow-up appointment. I would get a stab of pain between my port incision and the incision close to my belly button. My doctor said that it was the tubing of the port causing that pain.

I was banded last Thursday and I'm very sore around the port incision. Bending really causes a stabbing pain. (I had no idea how often I bend in a day prior to this) I've been told the ports are stitched into the muscle surrounding it and that ads to the pain.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
