I was banded 10/15/2009..

Tonight I made garlic bread for the family-- Ate one small ( I mean small) piece.. Not the soft middle part- the crunchy top part.. Within mins I was in the bathroom sliming.

Anybody else have bread issues??

I can eat texas toast as long as the whole piece is well toasted and crunchy. That's my little treat. Other than that, I cannot eat bread, toasted or not.

bread is a common problem food for bandsters. I can eat toast or crust, but not soft, doughy bread.

Pre band bread was my problem. Post band bread is my problem! I was told no bread! Then I read you can have it if it is toasted. So the carb addict in my toasted it then tried it not toasted. I can still eat it. I have learned bread it my number one enemy!!! I treat myself to it once a week one that is it!

Comeon , I made the garlic butter , sliced the bread , slathered it with the garlic concoction and then baked it and then broiled it . How could I NOT try to have some ..

Like I said earlier , I only had the crunchy top part and I thought it was going to kill me .

Won't be doing that again..

Sometimes I can eat toast...sometimes I can't. The night before my last fill (yesterday), I splurged on half of a BLT (no lettuce) and had no difficulty. The day before I tried to eat a piece of thin, well toasted bread and it was a no go. This morning I'm drinking warm tea because I can't even get my Protein shake down.

You may find that on another occasion, the toast won't give you any problems because our bands change in tightness from one hour to the next and one day to the next.

I"m like most of the rest... crust is ok but even toast is a problem... rarely I can get a piece of good crusty french bread down.. but for the most part... bread, cake, doughnuts...anything that can "glump" is a thing of the past.

I've taken to using pieces of endive lettuce and putting my tuna on it in lieu of a sandwich and have to say I LOVE it. My husband is doing it now too... and he is thin!

I can handle toasted or thin bread in tiny bites like thin Pizza Crust. I have only ate bread like stuff twice, pizza crust and some toast and was fine but I am a month out and not filled until the 22nd. I have not really slimed or choked but once when I ate a piece of dry meat way too fast and wasn't careful with it.

Sooo funny how alike yet different we are. I am right there with you on the bacon thing. I can eat lettuce. But I have issues with tomato skin and celery "threads"!

Chele...you might be able to do bread. I can eat whole grain breads. It is the really soft, doughy stuff that gives me problems. Alot of it depends on how tight your band is, too.

It seems to me that with the doughy breads, even with the smallest of bites, they regroup and get stuck. But, after a few nasty stuck episodes, I don't miss it. Before the band, had I been told I would hardly eat breads post-op, I would have been like you. Now it's like, ah, whatever, I don't have enough room for the bread anyway!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
