Just started preop diet need help with protein drinks

Recommended Posts

I started my preop diet which I have to say is pretty easy except for the dreaded Protein Drinks. I am using the EAS vanilla and thought that with a few blueberries, milk and blended with ice would make something wonderful. OMG it was awful!! It tasted like Blueberry muffin mix. Yuck.

Please does anyone have some ideas that are not so sweet.

I am lucky I only have 14 left to drink. My preop diet is only a week long and the last 2 days are Clear liquids. But i have to make it through these first five days with liquids and 3 shakes a day. any suggestions would be helpful even if I have to go and buy another type of Protein powder.

I've tried so many Protein drinks. Here are a few of my favorites - if you live near a trader joe's, try the worldwide Protein - in a can. I perefer the 21 gram formula to the 35 gram forumula. The cans are great for on the go. I also make a smoothie that I really like as is not too sweet. I use Designer whey Brand Protein Powder, a splash of soy milk, ice and sometime 1T of organic Peanut Butter. Run it through a blender (I love the magic bullet) with lots of ice for a thick, and in my opinion delicious smoothie. Keep in mind however, that when you are off liquids, you don't want to be drinking your calories, and the calories in a smoothie like the one I'm suggestion are a Meal Replacement.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi. I just started my pre-op diet 3 days ago and i've already lost seven pounds. I've been using SECURE Protein Shakes (pina colada flavor) with one serving of yogurt blended with ice and whole milk. I LOVE IT. You can buy some on Hsn.com or Qvc.com but dont get Peanut Butter flavor. yuck. GoodLuck with your journey :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
