Crushed up antibiotics are NASTY!

Recommended Posts

This morning I had to take my last horse pill - I mean antibiotic - for my ear infection. I just got my first fill on Tuesday afternoon, so since then, I had been crushing them and mixing them with apple sauce. I forgot to pack some apple sauce this morning so I cut it up into tiny pieces then swallowed it with Water. Gross! Then the last little pieces I swished with some water before taking it and I thought I was going to PUKE! Those are the nastiest tasting things ever! Thanks goodness I had my flavored coffee with me to wash out the taste. I'm so glad I'm done with those!

Next time I'm going to ask for a liquid antibiotic.

Since being banded I always ask for an elixer or liquid or chewable med... However, the liquid Antibiotic is just as bad... It is very thick and bitter and gets stuck inbetween your teeth and your tasting it for 30 minutes after taking it. Sometimes the pharmacy has something thats equivalent to waht was perscribed and they just issue it, but if they don't they just place a quick call to the Dr and explain I need the liquid or chewable and ask them to fax over a new prescription...

My Regular Doc does not know I have been banded However, I will advise him when I have my next physical and he questions how I have lost so much weight finally! Plus, I'm sure it really should be in my medical file....

I just don't want to tell him until I can show good results because he was dead set against it for the last 5 years as I begged him at each physical...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
