Someone brought be food...

Recommended Posts

So I work as a sales assistant kind of thing. I do contract compliance analysis and all this crap but I work alot with sales guys.

One of them is in the office today and brought me donuts. What do I do? I don't want to be rude and not eat them and I'm not telling many work people about my surgery. HELP! Do I chew one and spit it out?

I really appreciate the donuts...I think it's sweet (pun) but I'm still on liquids!!

I would say I really appreciate this--do you mind if I share these treats? Then pass them out until they are gone or say I am watching what I eat or you don't want to spoil your appetite...

Hey and if you do not feel like lying--do what I do take one and as soon as I can, throw it away!!

Like the PP said, take one, break it in half, so it looks like you're eating it, then toss a half, then a few minutes later, toss the other half. Be sure to give him a big smile and say thank you.

OR, you can say, Thank you Mr. Cute Sales Rep for the donuts. I'm (we are) starting to watch what I (we) eat so perhaps next time you can bring in some fruit or Bagels? Give him a big smile.

When we told our sales reps (I work at an insurance agency) we were trying to become healthier, they were all really cooperative and brought healthier items. We still get the occasional pastry, but not near as much as we did before.

Even when I was dieting pre-band and had a real job (versus working for myself :)), I would tell these thoughtful people 'thank you, but sugar gives me the jitters and makes me cranky...and you wouldn't want me to get cranky, now would you? They laughingly snatched the 'offering' back and said, "No, ma'am!"

Tell him you'll have one with your coffee later then put them in the break room. There's a fairly high chance that by the time you get around to coffee, the donuts will be all gone.

I wouldn't pretend to eat the food and thow it out... that's just wasteful.

Don't give this a 2nd thought. He probably brought donuts thinking you eat that kind of things so simply say... I'm on a healthkick that's overdue so I'm going to pass these along to those who aren't, but thanks for the gesture.

It doesn't need to be about surgery. I would never FAKE eat something for someone else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
