Hi Kim, Live2canoe

Recommended Posts

Been a hard year for Patty (and so for me as well. Better or worse, eh?) One of her cures almost killed her last spring. The trip to the ER with her on life support was a real wakeup call.

Seems she was reacting to a med.

She's had a few more surgeries. Mostly dealing with the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and the bionic stuff they have put in her. Last surgery the machine they implanted came loose. Still waiting to get it fixed.

I've lost a hundred pounds even. Haven't had a free day to get in for another fill, I think I need a teeny tiny one. Too much time getting Patty well. Cleveland is still where her specialist is, and it's still three hundred miles away. I've been there twenty times this year alone.

I've lurked here and watched. Looks like all are doing well. In a way I'm still just lurking. But was nice to be recognized!! Thank you!!!

Hope all here are well, and working toward their goals and that all those goals aren't about losing.....anything. I hope all your goals are about gaining....Life!!!

IT'S WHIP! IT'S WHIP! (doing the happy dance!) I've sure missed you lately, and have been hoping Patty was doing well. I'm sorry to hear that she isn't doing better, but she's still in my thoughts, as are you.

Glad to know you are lurking, and glad to know you are sill doing well with your personal journy.

There is a bright side. Patty's much better than last spring, or even last January and February. The first four months of the year were touch and go. She has shown great improvement, and if this last surgery can get her implants running properly there is hope for a bright future for her.

Good to hear from you as well. I may start posting again, tho there are so many new people they may not know what to think about my strange style of writing.

Ah, well. I can only be me.

We love you just as you are...so keep with your strange? style of writing...you are a breath of fresh air!!

So I got the Patty update I asked for on your Halloween musing thread. Just don't go far. Newbies are pretty cool these days, but I can't keep up either. Your posts don't get lost in the shuffle, that's for sure!!! Ah, I'm smiling!!!

So the light now shines again through the darkness! :)

Whip, I feel like I just got wrapped up in a fluffy blanket with a cup of steaming hot chocolate while soothing music flirts with my ears.

Life seems right again.

Hugs and love to both you and Patty - so glad she's on the upswing and that hope is burning bright.

A bizillion congrats on the shedding of 100 pounds!!

:banana

Have I mentioned lately that you ROCK?!?!

Whip puts his hands in his pockets and drags a foot through the dirt. "Aw shucks" he says. "You guys are making me blush". And, indeed, his ears are turning red.

We got huge news today. She is scheduled for the next surgery on November 10.

If successful, this surgery could be a giant step toward giving her some quality of life.

And yesterday was Halloween. Five years ago, on Halloween, she showed the first symptoms of RSD. Sigh.

RSD cannot be cured. But it can be beaten!

I hope you let Patty know how much we all wish her well and hope for both of you that her surgery is a total success. You both deserve it! Good Luck on the 10th, my prayers are with you.

Thanks Pam. Patty needs some good luck, that's for sure.

Unfortunately I will be working and her Mom is taking her to Cleveland. They are going down the ninth, and staying until at least the twelfth, probably the thirteenth.

It's that long drive immediately after surgery that may have displaced the last lead in her cervical spine. Insurance won't pay for her to be hospitalized so they'll stay at a hotel/motel we like just outside Cleveland.

I'm gonna be a batchelor, and I'm not gonna be with her through this trying time. Sheeeeeeesh!!!

But if it comes out right it'll control the RSD in her right shoulder and arm as well as it has in her legs, then it will be worth it.

Thanks all.

That poor woman. I think of myself complaining about our house situation, and then I realize how bad she, and so many others have it right now.

I am certainly going to say a prayer for both of you today. She deserves some relief and some happiness, and I'd say it's about time that you deserve the same.

God bless you and Patty both. He is definately with you, holding you both in His majestic and powerful, ever loving hands of grace, peace, and mercy.

Much love to you both, ~Kelly

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
