I haven't used Alli but, I am using HCG and lost 8 lbs the first week. It does slow down quite a bit after the first week or so but, still faster than the band alone. I just want to hurry up and get to my goal so I can start concentrating on maintaining.

I only know that I tried it pre band and if I ate anything I had a greasy orange mess in the bathroom and that is not good when you work in a place where you have multiple toilets.

The idea is great but think about exactly what you eat or you will get that mess. Which is what you should be doing without it.

HGC?? I never heard of this before. What is HGC? is this a new unknown diet? is this an easy plan?

I have been on the prescription form of alli, which is xenical, for almost 10 years. It works but you have to be careful about eating food with too much fat or you can have "leaks" - not pleasant. After 10 years I know how and when to use it. I was banded almost 18 months ago.

did you notice an consistent weight loss with alli when you got banded? Im looking to jump start the weight loss. If my diet is consistent with low or no fat I shouldn't have any leaking issues?

If you have a no fat diet, Alli is not useful. Alli prevents you from absorbing a percentage of the fat in your meals. Plus you do need a small amount of fat in your diet to process Vitamins.

If you just want to use it to eliminate a bit more fat from a low fat diet, you shouldn't have much issue with it and it would certainly speed up the weight loss. If you hit up two doses with a cheese pizza, well, disaster.

Try it out, at home on a weekend with a meal that has the normal amount of fat you eat in a meal....you'll know quick if it'll be a problem for you. And read through the stuff that comes with it- very informative!

I can't see how it would be helpful. If you're eating the right way for the band, how much benefit would Alli really provide? Whisking away 1/3 of the fat your body needs to function properly just doesn't seem as though it would be very helpful and might, in fact, be harmful.

Are you 12 pounds from goal, or 12 pounds from an interim goal you've set for yourself? If the former, 12 pounds in a month is unrealistic, Alli or no. If the latter, 12 in a month is probably pushing it, too---but if you return to band basics (lean Protein first, then nonstarchy veggies), you've probably have better luck.

HCG is a hormone and this diet has been around for over 50 years. The diet is very strict but, with the HCG you seriously DON'T feel hungry. You can research on the net but, here's a website where I found my doctor. www.truehcgdiet.com.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
