I can't believe...it has THAT many calories

Recommended Posts

I just found out that the "I can't believe it's not butter spray" that advertizes 0 calories for 5 sprays, 0 fat, 0 everthing actually has 860 calories per 8 oz. bottle.

I was told to use this by my nutritionist. I would use it on everything, and not just spray, but I would pour it on baked potatoes and steamed cauliflower - thinking it had zero calories. Big mistake!

Anything beyond 5 sprays has calories and fat. So beware.

Yes, it's sad but true... The FDA doesn't require manufacturers to say their products have calories in it if it's under five. As a result, they will tweak their servings so they can get away with saying the magical zero.

I have to say though that one bottle lasts me months. Sometimes I buy a new bottle because I think the old one is too old.

I thought calories and fat were two different things? It makes me laugh everytime I go to the shop, there's boxes of potato chip packs with 'Less than 100 calories in this box!' labels on them.

Yeaaah but what about the fat?

They love to do that. :scared2:

There was something else that advertised as zero calories, but a serving size was 1/10 of a seconds spray. Like someone can actually spray like that. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
