Well guys I am almost four months out on the 6th and only have lost about 28lbs. I have very active in the gym and just acquired a PT that said I needed to refocus my workouts so I'm excited about the PT. I am looking to lose 40-50lbs by May. Are there any suggestion on what else I can do to try to lose a little bit more weight? Looking for alternative from fellow bandsters that have the same issue.

FYI: I am unfilled and my doctor wil not give me a fill.

Hi there!

Why won't your doctor give you a fill? How many CC's do you have in your band, if any? How are you eating?

I'm sure you know that it's not just the exercise, but the food choices we make, and how much. Are you drinking lots of Water?

Just a few things to think about.

Debbie

You are averaging about 1.65 pounds lost per week. That's actually a pretty good rate of weight loss.

However, if you really want to get into the nitty gritty, I'd recommend finding out what your BMR is and calculating what your caloric needs should be based off that number. You can use this website BMR Calculator to determine your Base Metabolic Rate. This is the number of calories you need to consume per day just to maintain your current weight. Then, if you want to lose 2 pounds per week, you'd take your BMR x 7 days - 7,000 calories / 7 days to get your new daily calorie limit. Be sure to recalculate your BMR after every 10 pounds lost so that you aren't eating too much. Also remember that when you exercise, you need to add those calories back in so you don't go so low that your body thinks it's in starvation mode.

Good luck!

Hello,

Well my doctor said that he doesnt want to give me a fill because the weight loss is easier now and he wants to wait until I've lost another 40-50 on my own because he said it will be harder to lose further along I do into the year. So I am not filled and have no restriction but I eat like I do eating only 1200-1400 cals a day if that honestly I don't be really hungry. I will try that BMR which may help! your comments have been great!

The struggle continues :)

Thanks,

Chaka

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
