Help! I SOO want to cheat!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok I have seen a thousand threads about cheating and preop diets etc and "thought" compared to some mine wasn't too bad...boy was I wrong! Here's what I can have...

Powerade, gatorade, apple or orange juice-2 cups daily

milk 1 cup or 8oz yogurt-3 servings daily

Atkins or no sugar added carnation instant b. 1-2 daily

and unlimited ....sugar free Jello, sf popsicles, broth, crystal light, propel...

Gatorade and orange juice?!? Those are LOADED with sugar. Kind of defeats the purpose of having all that other sugar free stuff and definitely won't help in the liver shrinking department. I had to cut out all fruit juices, sports drinks and any beverages with sugar in them, including natural sugars. If you really need a sports drink for the electrolytes, Nestea makes a sugar free powder.

I just started my diet a couple of days ago. I know what your going through. My family decided that they're going to make a huge dinner for superbowl sunday and I know its going to be hard but I keep telling myself that I can't start a healthy life if i'm not willing to give up the unhealthy one. I open up my pantry and look at all the Snacks and tell myself no. I know that my surgery date is close (feb. 12) and I know that sabotage will only make my journey more difficult. Goodluck.

I hope everything goes well and that you have an amazing weight loss journey :)

I was doing my my pre-op on Superbowl Sunday. We went to a party. It was no fun slamming down my shakes while my friends were enjoying real food. I focused on being with friends and made it through. You can do it, too! :sifone:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
