I'm feeling pretty confused about what's going on with my band  - just looking for some insight here. Thanks in advance!

I had my first fill on Friday and the dr put 6cc in my band. I thought that seemed like quite a bit, but I drank a cup of Water in his office and was fine. Maybe because I thought that was a big fill (or just wishful thinking), I expected to hit my sweet spot or close to it. Apparently not (or maybe I'm wrong), because now it's been a few days and I've been eating a lot of veggie chili, about 1/2-3/4 cup at a time, but I find myself hungry within 3 hours. In fact, I feel hungrier now than I did last week - maybe head hunger(?). I want to eat more, but I'm trying not to because I'm so afraid of stretching my pouch.

I'm wondering if the chili is a slider food. Also, I noticed that with some bites I can actually feel the food slowly going down in my chest - is this normal? I thought it indicated being too tight.

Yes- I would say chili is a slider food. It generally takes a few fills before you feel restriction.

In the mean time do your best to eat healthy and to excersise. You want to get:

2 servings of dairy

60 grams protien

carbs from "good" sources such as Beans, fruit, potatoe, 100% whole wheat Pasta and bread

5 servings of fruit and veggies.

Best of luck!

The 'moister' the food, the more likely it's a slider food. I can't eat a hamburger because it gets stuck, but I can eat chili and I think it's because the liquid helps slide the pieces on through. I love casseroles, most likely because they're carb loaded, but found they slide on through and I can easily eat to excess with them.

It takes real Protein to curb the hunger pains. It is easier to eat chili and cottage cheese but you are likely to get too many calories and too many carbs over time. Real meat, eggs, cheese, pork, fish, poultry, and green vegs will make you tons more satisfied. The poster who listed the food groups above is also giving good advice however I find it impossible to eat all the food groups in a single day. I don't do fruit or starch at all but I do use meat green vegs and an occasional piece of low carb bread. I also eat eggs every day, and usually some sort of cheese. For snack I use greek yougurt with sugar free carmel Syrup. I am not hungry very often at all. Best of luck!!! Hugs.....

thanks for the tips everyone. what really sucks is that i'm living in a foreign country where finding real cheese is next to impossible. i'm also a vegetarian so i don't eat meat, eggs, pork, fish or poultry. veggie chili is something i love and i figured i'd get the Protein from the Beans, but i'm going to have to really limit my intake since it's probably a slider for me. i think i'll try it with less sauce and more veggies. i'm also going to start searching for other sources that are available to me - maybe soy meats or something.

i'm really hoping that with the right food and maybe another fill i reach the sweet spot *fingers crossed* :(

wow, i couldn't do this without some of those foods. Beans aren't even a full Protein unless you add rice.

Maybe tofu. Even though soft it would be less of a slider than the chilli.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
