Getting Impatient!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

yesterday was my 21st birthday and not one photo turned out decent

I'm so eager to get this done just so I can start feeling confident

I've been calling the surgeons office every week to see if i can get my march 12 consultation moved closer but they never have any cancellations

It wouldn't even make a difference because my insurance doesn't kick in until august :)

I'm getting really frustrated!!!!

Does anyone know the reason behind the 12 mnth waiting period with insurance? I would be very happy to pay the full years amount of what I owe them all up front if they could guarantee i could get the surgery sooner

I can only imagine your frustration! Once I had made the decision to get the band I wanted it done yesterday. My advice is to try and maintain your weight while you wait if you can, - you don't want to get heavier and therefore have more to lose.

I am not sure about the health funds and their 12 month wait but it probably has something to do with keeping customers in the long term.

I think that you are so fortunate to be getting the band at 21 while you still have your whole life ahead of you. I wish I hadn't wasted my 20s and half my 30s in a fatsuit!

March will be here in no time and once the ball is rolling time will fly! (Gee I am full os cliches!)

I really do sympathise with you. Once I also had made my decision, I was - I want it done NOW!

Considering though I think I have been quite lucky - made my mind up over Christmas after both my husband and I had been to see our GP the week before Christmas and discussed ALL the options I had left. Saw my GP again on 5th January, 2010 and rang that day to the Gold Coast Obesity Centre and they were able to get me in with the Specialist & Dietician& Psychologist all within 2 days on 7th/8th January, (before I went back to work on the 11th January) Even booked in that day for surgery for 25th Feb - wow.

Lodged my APRA Application on 15th January and got that approved today so all seems to be falling into place. You could call it a dream run. Getting excited and anxious and know that when I start the pre-surgery diet next week that all will be going ahead!

Keep your chin up, and hopefully like me, all will fall into place for you. Look forward to hearing all about your progress.

Think Thin Thoughts!

Tracey

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
