Pre-op diet to commence in 12 hours!

Recommended Posts

So, I start my two week pre-op diet in the morning. I am far more nervous about it than I am the surgery itself. I stocked up on my Protein Shakes for the next two weeks, but it's my mental toughness I'm worried about. I, like many of you, have spent many hours on this site and I feel confident that it has helped to prepare me for the journey ahead. Any advice that all of you have to offer for a successful pre-op diet would be great. Wish me luck and good luck to all of you! Let's do it!!!!

Hi There!! I started my pre-op liquid diet 3 days ago. This site has been my best motivator. I guess its like they say "We've got to keep our eye on the prize". I have been really mentally challenged during these last few days but I keep thinking its only 2 weeks, suck it up. Its crazy how much power our minds have over us. I won't even be "hungry" but my mind tries to trick me in to believing I am starving:blink:. We've just got to keep strong. I'm paying for my surgery out of pocket so that's a really good motivator as well haha. My surgery date is Feb. 12th and I can't wait to start the journey. We can do this. We can do this... We just have to stay positive.. Good luck and I looks forward to seeing the other posts you receive.

I've been doing the pre-op for 6 days and it gets easier with time. I get alot of headaches, I dream about eating, but during the day I keep my self busy so I don't think about it. Good Luck and don't forget variety is the spice of life... drink alot of different things and you won't get bored with what you are drinking so fast.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
