What foods consistently give you trouble?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm almost a week post-op and am starting to think about lifelong eating habits. I know everyone is different, but wanted to get first-hand advice. I've read that white bread, white Pasta and white rice are troublesome for many - is true for you?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

bread, eggs (doesn't matter how they're cooked) and ground meat. After this last fill, I'm up to 8cc and still no restriction but these are definite no-no's.

I have no problem with Pasta or rice.

I can't eat roast beef, angel hair Pasta, or cole slaw. They have each made me slime, and then pb. But, I haven't tried rice of any sort, and eat only french bread or baguettes toasted. I can eat salad with no problem. Good luck, you will just have to try, try again with foods.

Anything with fibers. Asparagus, Artichoke Hearts, Carrots, pineapple, etc.

I can not eat angel hair or other long pastas, but I can eat shell Pasta, and other shapes.

I can't eat most breads, or any eggs.

Finally I have a real problem with salty things. Bacon, many Soups, bleu cheese, and other salty foods are no gos for me!

In my opinion, you shouldn't be eating white bread or rice or Pasta at all. They are all very high in refined carbs. If you can, switch to brown rice and whole wheat bread and pasta.

Rice of any kind, bread of any kind except maybe toast if chewed with other food, dry meat like white meat chicken or turkey, well done beef and pork, many Breakfast foods like pancakes, waffles, etc. pretzels, vegetables like broccoli and potatoes, dry crackers like Triscuits...but I can eat salad, Pasta and popcorn which many people cannot. it's a learning process for everyone cause everyone is different and everyone level of restriction is different...

I dont have any foods I cant eat, that constatly get stuck except for two weird ones. I struggle so badly with canned fruit, any pureed or chunky fruit. I have a jelly in the fridge I made with fresh berries too and I wont be able to eat that either. It just wont go down, I dont pb it back up but I just cant force myself to eat it. I really struggle to get enough fruit these days becuase soft fruits like bananas and mango and stone fruits are the same - and we have GREAT fruit in Australia. I cant drink fruit juice for the LIFE of me either, it hurts hurts hurts. What's with that?

Which leads me on to having some trouble with acidy foods. They burn. Fruit juice, fruits like pineapple, and wine on an empty stomach - I love a glass of wine but I always have to suffer for it. Lately when I've been out and had a drink, I've opted for something mixed like a gin and tonic and I've never drunk that sort of stuff at all. And all the sweeter drinks that younger girls drink, I fancy those which is most unlike me, lol, I call those drinks tart fuel! I wouldnt be caught dead drinking tart fuel instead of wine, which appears a lot more sophisticated, lol, but I know which I'd rather be drinking half the time. I always had a good palate for wine and knew a lot about it, and we live near some great wine regions, but sadly, it just doesnt agree with me all the time anymore.

I've always stuck with white, as I like it better and it doenst make my teeth grey, but red is actually kinder on my stomach and I've had that more often lately.

I've been able to eat different things at different stages. Definite no no's for me are breads and dry meats. At one point I couldn't tolerate salad, but now I eat it all the time. When my band was too tight I could only tolerate soft foods and I was consuming too many calories and wasn't loosing. After an adjustment that removed some, I eat well, don't feel nearly as hungry and I am able to tolerate new foods well. I'm loosing at a steady pace now. I'm still trying new foods all the time, but one thing I find is that we don't realize how much we need to chew! If I'm not being conscious of chewing well I find myself reverting to old habits and swallowing pieces that are too large. That's when the "brick" hits. Be careful and aware or your stomach will not be happy!

No bread for me, crackers are fine. I stay away from celery, rice of any kind, corn, and dry meats. Also pizza of any type. I can't even go flat bread or wraps. So be it, Most of those aren't good for you anyway.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
