Any one banded on or around 12/29/09

Recommended Posts

Hello! I just want to see how everyone else who had surgery the same time as me is doing.

What was your surgery like? What has been your experience since then? What works for you? I would love to share the same and I am open to any questions you have as well!

I was banded 12/30/09! The surgery went great! I just got my first fill this past Wednesday. I don't really have restriction. I am eating less than I was, but I am still hungry quite a bit. I'm so ready for the sweet spot! As of right now..I can eat anything.

I was banded 12/31/09. I can't get my ticker to update, but I am down 36lbs. I have my first fill tomorrow and I am a little nervous. I have very little restriction right now and I am just relying on will power-which is fading fast. I have a bad habit of just not eating, so I am really working hard on eating 3 good small meals. I'll let you know how tomorrow goes.

SO my first fill was not what i expected. I'm terrified of needles and I've heard other people talk about their bad experiences. A girl i know said that her Dr gives her a small shot to numb the area. Right before i was going to get my fill i asked my Dr if he was going to numb me and he jokingly said "never!" I was like what!! So i laid down and i got my fill and i swear it was like like nothing! i was like what! That's it? I was very surprised! It was super easy and not uncomfortable at all. I hope your experience is the same!

So far I'm convinced that this is the best thing i have ever done for myself. I still have problems with restriction as well but i can not eat anywhere near what i was eating before. I was off work for 4 weeks and just went back last monday. Being off was nice but i was glad to get back to a routine. It's easier to follow my food and Vitamin schedule when im at work. I'm also working out alot. I walk/run at least 3 miles aday and i also go to the gym at least 4 times a week. I'm feeling great! I started my preop diet on Dec. 17th and since then i have lost 23 lbs!

Hi, I was banded on 12/17/09. I've been doing pretty good with steady losses each week. I go in for my first fill tomorrow afternoon.

There are lots of us December Delights that you can connect with here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f22466/december-delights-2009-a-106299/

I've lost about 14 pounds since the surgery six and a half weeks ago, which averages about 2 pounds per week. I'll take that! You figure, at 2 pounds a week, in one year (if it remains at that rate), I'd lose 104 pounds! I'd be darn near goal!

My surgery was 12=28=09. I'm going tomorrow for my first fill and am a little anxious. It took me 2 weeks before I thought I'd live after the surgery--was an ordeal! Still a little sore in port area.

Ok, so I had my first fill today. Doc put in 1.5 in my band. He numbed my stomach. He missed my port the first time, so I am very sore and bruised, but I will live. Hope I start to fill some restriction. He says I am doing very well, so I guess I should be happy. I just want to be 199. Haven't been there in 15 years!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
