BURP!! I just want to BURP!

Recommended Posts

I have a big huge ball of burp sitting in my stomach and it won't come out. I take gas-x and feel good for about 5 minutes and then the need to burp comes back. I walk around and the burp tries to come out and gets stuck. It isn't painful but it's not a good feeling at all!

My surgery was Tuesday so I'm 4 days post op. I get little burps but I need a good BELCH!! Any hints on how to get this ball of gas out of my body?

No hints but I have it too. My surgery was wednesday. I get it if I drink too fast or too much. Other than the burping how are you feeling. I'm doing ok - little desire for the liquids. I feel full all the time.I even feel a little nausea after a few bites of Soup or a few sips of Protein Shake. I'm thinking this is normal, but not exactly sure. My energy is still on the low side and I get tired and have to lay down and rest but I'm feeling better every day and I think that's a good sign.I'm smelling good food but have no desire to eat it. Good luck!

I felt the same way just out and by the second week I was burping 'full' burps. I'm not sure but that stuck burp feeling might also have something to do with tummy swelling from the surgery. Regardless, it is really annoying, I know. I went for my first fill Friday and now I have the opposite problem and I'm burping like crazy. I'm hoping this is not permanent.

I, too, experienced this after my surgery. I discovered that if I leaned way forward (supporting my hands on a table or desk) and waited a few moments, the big rumbly burp could escape. Try it and see if it works. Getting the burp out feels great!

Let me guess.. .I big FOG horn burp:) I am a little shocked at the bass tones:)

Everytime though, I know it is the gas leaving my belly... and every day the stomach swelling goes down... I ALMOST feel normal...

I am not hungry at all.. small amounts of food keep me full... I am more eating with my eyes than my stomach and that is my demon to conquer this week...so I decided to do something funny...

You know those little tupperwares you get in a box that you never use.... I put my servings of Soup or mushies in there, put them on a little saucer and I feel like I am at a buffett:):)

Very surprised that I am hungry more in the morning than at night... usually the oppposite prior to banding...

Good luck with the burping... it does help....my kids are laughing at me

Walking around does it for me. I find I have to take a lot of breaks while eating and burp. Just like a baby lol

Its funny you said "just like a baby"... when I had surgery, I decided that my stomach was re-born, and now I had to learn how to eat all over again. I view the steps from liquid to mushies to solids, both after surgery or a fill, a quick version of teaching a baby to eat.

After my surgery I had the worst gas EVER. Finally, it did go away. I still remember the day I realized I wasn't gassy. I nearly cried from happiness that it was gone. Still get it now and then, but just as before surgery, a good burp is one of the most enjoyable things in life!

I too had my surgery on Jan 26th and have the same problem. That is what brought me on line this afternoon. It is so uncomfortable. I was starting to get worried, but I guess this is normal.

Any help with being tired all the time? I also wanted to know if everyone on the liquid portion of the diet can't be to far from the restroom. I don't want to get into details, just want to know this is all normal.

All seems about the same as me!! If you'll pat my back, I'll pat yours! See if we can burp each other!

The way I'm feeling don't be surprised if I take you up on that offer! This is horrible. Kept me up last night and I don't see tonight being any better.

I am in my second week post op. I had that feeling all day every day for the first week. Once the swelling from surgery goes down, you will feel better and actually be able to burp a little. the first two days, burping hurt, so I was afraid to let it out. LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
