How much have you lost?

I am not sure if I am dong ok.

I have lost 18 kilos (about 40lbs) since my surgery on September 24. I lost alot to start wilth and now I have slowed.

I am wondering how other September bandsters are going.:biggrin:

I was banded on 9/2 and just his the 54# mark but only 40 of that is post op so I'm right where you are.

I feel a bit slow on wt.loss but am getting better about being ok with it.

I work out hard... I do 4.5-6 hrs. per week with 4.5 more the avg. and burn 1.5k to 1.9k in calories per week avg. for a net of about 7-900 calories per day and so I just don't see myself being able to do more.

I go for 3 wks. without losing and then will drop 4-6# all at once and have been doing that almost since surgery. I am, however, losing inches.

I am starting to like the way my body looks and feels more so I'm getting much better about ignoring the scale. I also just cleaned out my closet and brought 12 bags of clothes to the good Will ... it felt GREAT! I have a bench in my closet and every time something gets a bit loose, from a bra or panties on out.. it goes into the takeaway pile. I won't give myself and excuse to get back into bigger clothes!

I just keep putting 1 foot in front of the other and doing my best every day.

We also all have very different metabolisms that effect calorie burn. If mine were any slower I'd be in hibranation...apparently I was built for survival... not speed! I had a fitness eval. that showed my basil metobolic rate and it was about 500 calories per day lower than the charts had indicated... so that gave me a better idea on why I was not losing as fast as I had thought I should be and although it sucks... it actually made me feel better knowing that I was doing really well each week based on that. Now I have a new goal of trying to raise that metabollic burn rate and have adjusted my workouts accordingly... less level 3 push and more muscle building and endurance vs. the hard fast calorie burn activities...Wish me luck!

I think maybe we all go into this thinking we're going to lose faster and setting our expectations a bit too high and have to do some adjusting. I had a goal of 12# per month for 3 months then 10# a month for the next 9 months.. RIGHT! I'll avg.about 1/2 that... but that's ok too....just took some adjustment and getting over the initial let down feeling.

You're doing great and from what I'm seeing in the inperson group I go to... we're in the upper end of the long term averages for women.

Hi -I was banded on Sept 1 and have lost 40 lbs since surgery (10 before surgery), but nothing over the past 3 weeks. I am really slowing down but to be honest I am starting to lose some of the initial good habits. I have been eating some Cookies and junk food - it goes down easier than meat. I suspect it is time for a fill and a kick in the bottom!

I'm hovering at 60 pounds right now.. it is going up and down about 2 pounds either way. I'm going tomorrow for my second fill, hopefully I'll get my restriction back!

47 Pounds since actual surgery on September 16th. (not including pre-op weight loss)

I have lost 53 pounds since surgery. I have lost a total of 77 pounds all together. I am starting to slow down on the weight loss, but I have also been cheating more than in the beginning. I work out everyday and I have notice if I eat a higher calorie Breakfast and a lower calorie dinner I lose faster. I can't wait to get under 200lbs, 18 more pounds to go! I haven't been under 200 since birth lol. It is so exciting! I'm trying to figure out how to reward myself, eating out just isn't as fun anymore. You guys are doing great, keep up the good work.

Banded Sept. 24th at 235 lbs. and now I'm sitting at 199. I'm very glad that I'm in Onederland but I really thought I would be losing quicker than this. I work out a lot, and I figured since I'm young I had a faster metabolism than most. But oh well, a loss is a loss and I'm learning to accept it. I will get to my goal, it just might take me a bit longer than expected. :thumbdown:

This sounds exactly like me!! Usually I get so fed up after not losing weight for 3 weeks that I work out ridiculously hard for a few days and it seems to jump start weight loss, and suddenly I'm 5 or so pounds down. One month I even dropped 10 pounds like this.

I did about 35 lbs from my surgery date (9/10/09) to the beginning of March. From March to April I lost 2 lbs. and from April to May I lost 1 lb. I had my first fill in January. So - doctor added .5 cc a week ago (my second fill) giving me a total of 7.5 cc. It has been extremely difficult since then. Have never experienced this kind of restriction. Have lost about 10 lbs since last Monday though so I am close to 50 lbs total. I am hoping that I can handle this restriction going forward though. Everything is much more difficult.

I had my surgery in September and have only lost 32 lbs... I just joined the site because I was feeling like I needed advice too. My doctor thinks I am doing fine... but u know we just want to be losing faster!! 1-2 lbs per week is the goal, ya know. I notice that I am sliping on some of the rules I lived by right after surgery... like sipping Water all day but NOT drinking 30-60 min before/after meals. Also, I was not excersing at all this winter! Keep on the path!

I am down about 140 lbs now. And finally it is slowing down. Unfortunately, I look like I am carrying a deflated tire around my mid section. Finding clothes to fit is a real problem.

I've lost a total of about 75 lbs, 60 since surgery on September 1, 2009. I went almost 2 months around December without losing anything, and then lost more than 20 lbs in March and April. Unfortunately, I was having some episodes with food getting stuck after my 3rd fill so that is what prompted the loss. I had to have an unfill for a bit, and now it is much harder to lose. Like a few of you I am losing some of the initial good habits - like not eating junk food - but I am determined to start eating healthy again. I think you start fearing the LAP-BAND® less and push the limits on eating. I have also not been working out lately which is not good. I made a commitment to a healthy lifestyle when I decided on LAP-BAND® and have to hold my end up.

I am very pleased with my results. I was told from the very beginning that my losses would be sloooow and I was prepared for it. I am losing at my own pace and very optimistic that I will be reach my goal by the end of 2010.

I was banded on June 14, 2010 and have only lost 2 pounds in two weeks! Is this normal? I am getting very frustrated. I have my first post-op appt. tomorrow and I can't wait to see what the doctor says about the weight loss.

Any suggestions?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
