Restriction question

Recommended Posts

I am trying to learn what this feels like - trying to decide if i have the same amount of restriction as i did this past week - espeically with the question of a possible leak.

My question is,

is it normal for certain foods to be easy to eat and others to be quite the chore?

What about having real good restriction one day and then what seems like none the next ?

thanks

sue

Yep, been there, done that. One day I can eat eggs and cheese and the next I can't. Sometimes, chicken is hard too. I'm tighter in the a.m. than at night too. Makes no sense but at least you're not alone.

Hi Whillow,

I was banded 11/25/09 and have had 3 fills so far. I am now at 5.5 in a 10cc band and I am finally feeling it. I am real tight in the morning. I seem to loosen up a bit come 1 or 2 and then I will try to have some Protein, today I had 3oz of turkey meat loaf and was full. Tonight I felt wide open like I could have eaten a bit ol meal. I didnt but I pushed away feeling like I wanted to eat more, not because I was hungry. It's all very strange....sometimes I wonder if I did the right thing...if I will ever be able to eat more than 3 bites, but then I ran into a banded lady who has lost ALL her weight and then some and now has nothing in her band. She is maintaining without the help of her band...thats where I want to get!

Hi Whillow!

Yep, My band has been that way too. It's always tighter in the morning. Somedays I can eat 1/4 cup and feel full then the next day I eat 3/4 cup and feel like I could eat a lot more. I was banded May 1, 2009. Everyone's different as far as what they can and can not eat. Fortunately I haven't found anything that I can't eat yet...now chicken can be a bit trickey some days, but fine most of the time. Foods that are moist seem to work better for me. The crock pot is a great friend! Good luck with everything!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
