Had my first fill today. I was told I am a very "hard stick" and that my port is deep. On the plus side of her having to dig and dig and dig--she told me that at least when I lose alot of weight my port wont protrude. I only got a little over 1cc because I was so nervous and then swollen after the digging that that ...was all I could tolerate at the time :) Now I am hungry and have to wait 4 weeks to get another. She intially put 2ccs in but took some out and I was scared to argue since she is very experienced at fills and if I needed an emergency unfill this weekend--she told me the fellows at the ER aren't very good. ARGGGGG I hope I have at least a little restriction. Total I am down now is 21lbs though.

The nurse who does my fills put in 2cc's in my second fill then took 1 out. I was disappointed because I want to "get there" as fast as possible, however, she was right because its been 3 weeks and I think I am at my sweet spot. :)

I had my first fill on Wednesday. The nurse put in 3 cc's. My band holds 10. It wasn't bad at all! I have to wait 4 weeks for my 2nd one too. I'm not really feeling any restriction, which I know is normal. I'm trying not to let it discourage me.

Had my first fill 1/25. 3cc in a 11cc realize band. Dr did it with floro so he knew exactly where my port was. He wanted to do the 4 week thing, but I told him I would know within 10 days if I have restriction. I scheduled 3 more appointments 2 weeks apart. Told him I would cancel if I don't need them. If I need an unfill, I will use one of the appointments for that. I am down 38# entirely on my own with no help from the band. I figure it's time for it to go to work for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
