Period started with surgery

Recommended Posts

My period tends to be wacky due to PCOS as a rule. I found it odd though that one week after my period ended, it started up again the morning of surgery (1/26) I noticed I was spotting when I had to go tinkle for the nurse to see if I was preggers. It has steady increased to a light period. I am assuming it's surgical stress. Anyone else experience something similar?

I had my Band Done on Dec 4th and then 2 weeks later on the 16th I had Reconstructive Knee surgery... Mine started on the day of the Knee Surgery... When I went in to tinkle for the Preg test thats when I discovered.. I hated those little Mesh panties and the HUGE pad they gave me and I would rather have started for the Band surgery... Do you know how hard it is to take care of business when you have a brace on your leg from ankle to thigh high and your in so much pain that you can't move your leg in any direction and you have to hang onto crutches to stand up and sit down... It was the worst experience ever and the Period was a week early! I scheduled both surgerys to be before it so I would have time to recover.... Bah humbug... The best laid plans....

Mine started a couple of days after surgery. I had surgery December 30th. And mine just started AGAIN on Monday!! I'm on birth control and I'm not supposed to have my period until next week. And I have PCOS too.

I have PCOS as well ...this is one of the reasons I had this done on January 8th. My periods are erratic or non-existent. Mine started 4 days after surgery and lasted a week...heavy and crampy ...so I knew it was ovulatory. It was because my blood sugar was and has been very stable since surgery and about a week or two prior to that and since PCOS is directly related to high levels of insulin in the body it usually only needs a 10% reduction in your weight or less to kick start and ovulation or cycle.

Thanks gals.

I'm never surprised what my cycle is going to do next with PCOS. That's one of the things that I hope to get control of with weight loss.

YES! I also have PCOS and never had periods on my own. Always had to be "started" with medication. One week after my surgery I started on my own and have been -TO THE DAY-every since! It's the strangest thing! It took my husband and I six years to get pregnant and the last 4 of those were with fertility specialists! My daughter is now 16 and we haven't used birth control in all of those years...now they tell me that I will get pregnant if I don't use some form of Birth Control! Sure wish I would have done this a few years sooner...I'd be having that second baby I always wanted! I just wanted it before 40...

Mine started 4 days after surgery and lasted a week...heavy and crampy ...so I knew it was ovulatory.

Is that really true? Because this period that I'm on now (which is a week early) is not really heavy, but I'm cramping sooooo bad. So does that mean is ovulatory? I have never heard that before!

I got my period the day of my surgery (unfortunately after it while I was laying in my hospital bed). It was week early. I have never and I mean never got my period early. I've gone 5 months without my period before. Now I've been on track pretty much ever since the surgery so it must be the change in diet.

Mine was completely abnormal and I got it right after my surgery and it has been right on time ever since.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
