Im having problems with calorie intake and weightloss.. help!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok quick recap: I was banded on Dec 23rd 2009 I lost 80 lbs preop and 30 post op. I eat 60-70 grams of Protein a day if not more and atleast 64 oz of Water a day also and my portion sizes are roughly 4-6 oz 3x a day(im eating at 4 hour intervals if not longer and im staying full). I also run atleast 2 miles and do weight training as well 6 days a week. BTW i havent had a fill yet.

Heres my problem: my calories are only adding up to like 700 calories on a good day. The people on LBT and my doctor said i should up my calories but i just dont know how.. Do i eat more meals? do i drink more stuff that has calories? and because of this problem im not shedding any weight whatso ever.

Please help!!!!

and if you can post what you guys eat when your plateau-ing that would be amazing.

THANKS!!! :)

If you are that active, you are probably burning at least 2,500 calories a day. You should be consuming at least 1,200 calories to give you body the fuel it needs. If you don't, your body goes into starvation mode and stops burning calories unless you are exerting yourself.

The weird answer is: yes, you have to eat more in order to lose weight.

Have a 100 calorie shake between each meal. That will ad a couple hundred calories to your diet.

Congrats on the weight you have already dropped!!

OMG could have written your post. I was so upset yesterday to find out I have not lost anything since last week's weigh in when I went to group last night. I am power walking (2 miles in 30 minutes) every day and Monday through Friday I walk one mile round trip from train to office and back.

I am so frustrated that I am busting my butt while fighting extreme hunger (no restriction and fill #2 is not until 2/25!!!) and I don't know what to do to jump start things again.

I can't wait to hear everyone's responses!

Seriously, you are doing awesome and I applaud you! But, weirdly, yes, you need more calories. Either a little more with your meals or Snacks in between 'em, naturally high Protein, low carb, blah blah blah....Seems crazy and very backwards but it works!

Wow! First, let me say congratulations on your incredible weight loss! You are an inspiration to me!

I am a newer bandster (on mushies) so I haven't plateaued yet but my doctor looked at my food log and told me I am not getting in enough calories each day (only about 600-800). The best way I can quickly add calories without a lot of bulk is to have an unjury Protein Shake (or you could use another brand as long as it is high Protein, low carb) made with skim milk. This results in 180 calories and about 28 grams of Protein. For you, it might be useful to have 2 of these per day since you are exercising so much.

Keep up the great job you are doing! Amazing!

Wow, how ironic is that, I was banded Nov 08 and my starting weight was 200lbs, 5'0 tall. My current weight is now 136lbs. I work-out 5 days week, run every other day 2.5 miles and lift weights. I'm taking in about 1100 - 1200 calories per day but after working out it's only about 700-800 calories that I'm actually consuming and I'm extremely full by the end of the day. I even keep a food diary on my Iphone to track exactly what I'm eating to make sure I'm not starving myself. Go by how you feel, are you tired, losing hair etc.. then you will know if your body is lacking certain nutrients from foods.
