I was wondering if after anyone has experienced a visible port after losing all the weight. I really would not want my port to be visible when I wear a bathing suit, and also I think it looks kind of creepy.

My port is very visible. I've lost over 160 pounds and have and have had a Tummy Tuck, so there's really nothing there to cover it anymore (you can see it in my tummy tuck pics on my profile). It's a little weird at times, but I think I'm going to jokingly tell everyone that questions me about it that it's my on/off button! LOL!

Hi There,

You should have actually had your port moved behind your belly button when they did the Tummy Tuck, it would have saved you money and you wouldn't have to worry about the port being visible anymore (you can still have it filled but would really need to make sure they use flouroscopy when doing it).

I'm sure mine will be visible once I get the weight off; I'm not sure that it will bother me much--the obvious scar in the area is sort of a dead giveaway that something was done to my body. But I may switch to a low-profile port when I have plastics done.

This is one of my biggest worries after losing weight, that my port will be visible..... ;-(

Mine has been visible since day one and when I eat or drink anything it becomes even more visible... AND to top that off, my boyfriend, Whom I live with, has not noticed it yet... Well, I have been real careful to keep my Pajama top on at all times in bed and when we are intimate... He has not seen me topless since December 3rd... He's probably forgotten what my girls look like and when he does see them again, they will look totally different from the weight loss...

Only Three people know I have had this surgery so I don't know what I'm gonna say if anyone notices this big lump under my skin... My BF will probably think I have a TUMOR or something... I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...

My sister and boyfriend teased me about my port because it looked like a tumor. I am in good enough shape to wear a bikini so I went and had a low profile port put in under the muscle...Cannot see it at all now

I like the "on-off" button! I'll use that one if you don't mind. I only hope that mine shows some day, that means that I've lost enough to wear that bikini. I will tell everybody what it is until I can get a low profile. It will be my badge of honor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
