Protein Recipe Suggestions...

Recommended Posts

I started making myself a totally yummy Protein Shake this week and thought I was back on track. Until I actually figured out the nutritional data for my shake, that it. I'm using 8oz of ff milk, 2 tbsp of pb, 1 scoop of EAS Protein, and 1 med. banana. This works out to 505 calories, 18 grams of fat, 50 carbs, and 39 grams of protein. Yikes!!! Any suggestions how to improve this recipe?? Thanks in advance!!!

funny! I had that exact shake this morning and and mine was way less calories. Here is my recipe and calorie/protein count:

8 oz FF milk - 90/9

1 scoop unjury chocolate Protien - 100/20

1/4 frozen banana (cut in slices before freezing) ~ 25/0

1 tbs Peanut Butter - 95/3

So 310 calories and 32 grams protien

Okay, that sound way better! Half the PB and less banana makes a huge difference! Thanks so much!

I do the following daily and love it!

Champion chocolate Pure whey stack (1 scoop = 130 calories/23 g protein)

1/3 small banana (30 calories)

PB2 (powdered peanut butter) 1 TBS = 27 calories/2 gr. protein)

10 ozs. Water

4 ice cubes

I put it in my bullet and is it REALLY good.

The total nutritionals look like this: 187 calories/4 g fat/14 g carbs/6g sugar/25 g Protein

I also will sometimes use a vanilla Protein powder mixed w/ 1 TBS of sf pudding mix (flavor of your choice - I like butterscotch) and water/ice - also very good.

If you start with Peanut Butter Cookie flavored Inspire Protein powder (bariatriceating.com), mix it with Water rather than milk, and sub PB2 for the Peanut Butter, you'll knock out much of the fat and most of the carbs. I might also add half a banana rather than a whole one (frozen, for a frosty drink). That'll further pare down the carbs a bit.

I can't say enough good about the Inspire Proteins Bariatric Eating offers---and the PB flavored one is especially good.

(Note to self: order more!)

ETA: If you like the creaminess milk adds to a smoothie, try the refrigerated unflavored Almond Breeze (near the organic milk in the fridge section of the grocery store). It is OUTSTANDING, and adds far fewer carbs than cow's milk.
