Tomorrow is my one week mark of my surgery of the Lap Band. I've had a bit of a rough time but not doing too bad. My problem is that I have the familiar old mothers apron which doesn't make recovery easy and gravity is never kind. I've lost about 4 pounds since surgery but I know that a lot is bloating from the surgery. I had lost 57 pounds in the last year before surgery in preparation for the surgery and exercised about five days a week by walking approx 30 minutes each time. I believe this helped me so much in recovery of this procedure. I've had no problem with feeling full with the 2oz per meal and doing my best to keep all the fluids coming in. I had to lay off of the Protein Drinks because of the "gas" factor. First BM was such a relief and I felt like a new person. It had been 5 days since I had one so it was a welcomed event...lol

I"m really excited about my new life and I know it will be up and down. I've prepared for well over a year for this time and feel like I've got the tools i need at my fingertips. Scary? yeah sure it was but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Not at all, in fact i walked into the surgical suite and within a minute i was out and back to my room within an hour and a half.

I look forward to sharing and reading things here on the forum.

Hope you all have a fantastic day!:smile2:

Does anyone else have this mother's apron and what can you or did you do about it?

Also how do you get those cute little weight loss rulers in your comments. Those are nice way to track. Thank you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
