How long did it take you to poop after surgery? I'm going on day 3 and still no poop. I pass gas so I know everything is moving but I'm really starting to worry about the lack of poop.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the TMI!:smile2:

If you've got gas moving through, you don't need to worry. There's not much in your gut to move out yet!

I didn't poop until my intake moved past Clear liquids. Then, there was NO question in my mind that my bowels were ok---things were frequent and very loose until I hit the eating-solids stage.

Chele, For me it was 5 days, and then that first one after surgery was like having a freaking baby out my butt. :smile2: You need to remember you are drinking all your "food" right now so it may be awhile. It's ok. :w00t: Get some dulcolax or mylanta. It'll help. I'm on day 16 post op and I think I've only had 3 "movements" since my band was put in place. I was as regular as the clock on the wall before surgery but now??? I guess this is what skinny peoples "regular" is like. I am on my way to my surgeons office right now for my first post op visit.

I was like SDH said in the beginning. I was advised to get the stool softner, eat Fiber One Cereal when I moved to solids and a peeled apple in the afternoons. My bowels are fine now as long as I do what was advised. Everyone is different.

I'm claiming that as my 4th child.. cause, OMG... that is EXACTLY what that felt like. It was also 5 days for me. But it does get better.

I did it two days after surgery, but I have walked tons since the day after surgery so I think that may have helped "Move things along". Also, I make sure I get in enough Protein. Because of the walking I haven't had the gas issues others seem to have had either.

I was worried about not going (surgery was 1-22-10) so yesterday I took Ducolax overnight and it worked this morning. What is the norm for going number 2 with a band?

When I can go it is fairly normal, I had a bout of diarrhea yesterday for the firs time since surgery. 10/5/09. The Calcium was killing me. I need calcium with magnesium, but have a hard time finding it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
