choke on chicken, PB steak, but can eat pizza fritta?

Recommended Posts

I have had a few episodes in the past few days with PBing and getting food stuck. I haven't had a fill for over a month and this just started last week.

I had a small salad and brought it up, I had some chicken and it got stuck and the pain was horrible, I had a small very tender steak and PB'd to the max.

Las tnight my grandson begged me to make pizza fritta and of course I can't turn him down. I sat with him and had 5 pieces. Of course they are small, about the size of one of his hot wheel car. but I put sauce and cheese on them and cut them up and they were delicious. I could taste the greasey oil on them...

Going to see the Dr tomorrow, don't want a fill because of the past episodes but why can I eat the junk but not the good?

Up until now I haven't had problems with my Protein but this week has been very difficult.

Its weird...I can eat some things sometimes but not others. Last night I ate steak, not a lot but I ate it, no problems at all. This afternoon I got stuck on a very soft peice of chicken. The steak was WAY harder I have no clue why.

I can also still do bread, Pasta, rice. All of the things they say wont stay down.

I just think everyone is different and not only that but every day is different too!

Yes, I know what you are talking about the good food is hard for me to get down sometimes. But the bad foods just slides right down no problem. my band is tight and I get so tired of PBing all the time that I eat not so good food just to enjoy by dinner without PBing. Do you know what I mean?? Some days I can eat chicken just fine but other days no-way will it stay down. Im still really happy about my weight loss so far and really happy I got the band.

Im wishing you the very best!

What causes issues is confusing and aggravating at times. I ate my first steak the other day no problems, but when I ate half a sandwich, I came right back up. I guess the steak doesnt gum up like the bread when chewed.

I normally dont PB (productive burps), rarely if ever. And I have only thrown up 3 times. I am really not that tight, but on the rare occasion sometimes I have even be careful how fast I drink Water.

I feel the pain.......everything I ate today was OK...some fullness fast but what gave me the problem today? Taking a tiny pill with a sip of Water (that I take every night with no problems) Till tonight :smile2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
