Inhisplan 0 Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) So, I just got released from the hospital after a blocked band. It worked up to being completely blocked after about 3 weeks post band fill. I had 4cc put in the band 3 weeks ago and slowly my eating and drinking became more difficult and painful. Now they took the 4 ccs out and I am back on liquids for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2 weeks, and then they may fill again slooooowwwly. 1-2 ccs maybe. Has anyone else had any problems like this? What did you do? and I am looking for ideas for the liquid stage??? I am allready bored at day 2. Thank you for any feedback! onenuttynurse 0 Posted January 27, 2010 I am not sure what you mean by a blocked band. Can you tell me more about that....where was the block at?
crzytchr 3 Posted January 27, 2010 I hate that you are going through this. It sounds like your fill was too much at one time and it slowly began tightening up from swelling as the weeks went on. You probably started pbing and that increased the swelling. Many times getting a large fill like that is ok, but in some cases, like this, it is a recipe for disaster. This doesn't mean, however, you can't make your band work for you. You just need to make sure you take your fills slow. My surgeon ROUTINELY gives 4ccs at the first fill, but I knew I didn't need it. The PA put 2ccs in and after drinking Water, she actually withdrew 1 of them out. I don't need big fills. After this is over, just try being patient, and I will be hard, but take the fills slowly. Ask your surgeon if you can come in every 2-3 weeks and get 1cc or less each time until you get restriction. He/she should be ok with that, since it can help you avoid this misery in the future. Good luck and keep us updated. Oh, and I am sorry about the liquid diet.< /p>
Inhisplan 0 Posted January 27, 2010 Blocked meaning nothing was going through the band at all. This was for about only 3-4 hours. Luckily I work at a hospital and I went to the ER.
NoName-AZ 0 Posted January 27, 2010 CRZYTCHR Thank you for taking the time to reply to this. I am 4mos post op, and had my 3rd flll recently. I was fine the 1st day following my fill but a couple days later I felt it getting tighter, and tighter. Not to the point where I couldnt eat, but I had to be SUPER careful! I got stuck 3 times that week. I couldn't undestand why as time went on it was worse, But this explains it.. I must have had some swelling Needless to say I Lost 5lbs BOOM that week which took me right into "onederland" which is awesome, but it came with much discomfort. I am okay now, good restriction and losing steadily. Thanks for the info.
