Hiccups are prob just from the gas. Get used to the burps. it is normal. I have 3 tiny incisions. It was laproscopic. U have a large one?? Its called the LAPBAND because it is Laproscopic and minimally evasive.

You will feel pretty bad for about a week while the gas works it way out of your system. Once you get to mushies and soft protiens you will feel a lot better. Keep up your protien and fluids. Also eat a lot of yogurt or kefir or take an accidophilus daily to counter the negative effects of the anti-biotics they gave you. also take come evening primrose oil as soon as you are able to swallow pills. It will help with you next menstral cycle. The Heprin and surgery makes your next one horrendous. I wish my doc warned me.

Hi! I felt really rough the first few days, weeks actually. The good news is I have felt GREAT since then. I hiccup when I'm full, I still do, a year later. The incision over my port was a couple of inches. I almost never burp, preband I burped a lot, now very rarely. Take it really easy, you should feel better soon.

I had the burps and they hurt like hell. I burped all the time and could really feel it in my left shoulder. I felt horrible from the minute I woke up. My pain didn't really feel worse on day 2. My first day off the pain meds was pretty bad. I quit them too early. Stick with them as long as your doc approves and your not driving. Sorry your hurting but congrats on starting your journey.

Oh yea and my largest incision is in my belly button so it is not noticeable. Plus my Doc used the smaller port. So really my incisions look pretty good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
