Frustrated in Kingston

Recommended Posts

Ok fellow bandsters I need your help...I had my surgery Sept 22, 09 and have been doing good so far..a pound a week:) But now I am at a standstill. My last fill was Dec 29th. and my next one isn't until Feb 9th. Since my last fill I have been walking on a treadmill three miles three times a week. I borrowed my nephews Wii and have been using the Wii Fit at least three times a week/30 or more minutes each. I have been about 90% good on my eating habits and I have NOT lost a pound.

I just have to lose a pound a week to stay on track or I feel like a failure, like this whole thing is for nothing. I have been failing on losing weight all my life and I just can't let that happen now.

My boyfriend says that I am obsessing over this. I weigh my self everyday, I do that so that if I don't lose my one pound then I just have to work harder...I just don't know what to do...Nothing is working...I don't that its just that I need a fill, I know it is part of that but I should at least be losing some weight..

This is so frustrating...any advice, or at least tell me that I'm not the only one who is having/has had this problem..

I am in the same boat as you, so I have no advice. I just wanted you to know you're not alone. HOWEVER, I have found that instead of obsessing about the numbers on the scale, I should focus on other numbers. I began taking my measurements about 3 months ago, and on the weeks when the scale doesn't move, I find that many times, the tape measure does. I have my trainer do the measuring so I'm not purposely pulling the tape tighter. Also, I'm noticing it in my clothes, too. They are fitting much more loosely, and I'm down 10 dress sizes already!

So, keep doing what you're doing without obsessing about the scale. My doc says that eventually I will have a breakthrough and end the plateau.

My surgeon suggested weights.....I have worked out my whole life in some respect or another...gyms, jogging, and organized sports...never managd to loose much weight. After my surgery we had to visit with a personal trainer...she said that weights would raise our medabolic weight for longer than arobic exercise would...They explained that as your body gets use to arobic activity you have to raise the level (raise you heart rate) to have it work at buning weight....weights build the musle that in turns rasies your ability to burn calories.....Also be patient....your next fill will help....Good luck........

Have you checked for NSV's (non-scale victories) like gatorgal suggested - changes in measurements, the fit of your clothes? You may be replacing fat with muscle. Just the relative amount of Water in your body can make a bigger change on the scale than the rate at which we lose weight. I too weigh myself every day too, but I look for the trend over time rather than each weighing.
