I am one month and 5 days post op. I made it successfully through the week of liquids, week of pureed foods, and week of soft foods. I'm on regular food and have not been filled, not until 2/4. I have no restriction, I have found there are foods that don't agree with me. I'm stuck. I'm not losing any more weight, at first I attributed this to going on my vacation, and not being as diligent as I could be. But I've been home almost 2 weeks, I'm really watching what I eat, I've upped my exercise. I'm not losing a pound. In fact I'm bouncing back and forth with 3-5 pounds. I bounce between 225-230. I work nights, and I try to avoid snacking, if I need something, I keep 100 calorie packs of almonds in my bag, and low fat cheese sticks. I'm obsessed with the darn scale. Which I know is part of my problem. UGH!!!

Any suggestion?? I just don't know what to do! Help please!!!!

consume your Protein and wait for a fill. A lot of people gain during the stage before they are in the green zone.

It's not enough to "watch" what you eat.

Log everything you eat either online or on paper and you my be surprised to see that you are eating more than you thought.

Make sure that you are drinking at least 64 ounces of clear Water a day.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I didn't even think about logging it, which makes no sense because I logged in the pre surgery prep. I think you're right and that will help!!

I didnt lose any weight before my first fill, as a matter of fact once I was off the liquid diet I was gaining weight, so then I was scared that this was just going to be another failed diet attempt. But then I got my first fill and magic happened! I have been losing steadly every since. I agree with the person who said keep a log of everything you eat. Dont worry once you have restriction and you do the things that you are doing everything will work out. Good luck

This is such good advice. Sometimes we 'forget' all the little things we've tucked into our mouths during the day and they do add up. Oh how they add up.

My 17 year old is taking college classes and has to drive 45 minutes one way every Monday evening to his classes. Since he's still a pretty new driver and the winter roads are bad, I go with him and just sit in the lounge with my crochet for 3 hours until he's done. Well I discovered their little cafe makes a sugar free chai that is phenomenal. I've been drinking 2 every Monday night figuring they were sugar free and 'safe'. Bahahahaha!!! Wrong!

I asked them last night if they had the nutritional info on these things and a 'regular' which I've been getting has 350 calories because it has heavy cream in it and that's where all the calories are coming from!!! So I've been drinking 700 calories *above* my usual 1500. Good grief.

AM proud to report, I began logging my food intake again at sparkpeople.com, and really paying attention, making sure I drink enough fluids, not drink with my meals....it's so easy to say just one sip won't hurt! Although I've not lost that pesky 5 pounds, I'm sitting steady at 227 which is 3 pounds down from that 230 mark.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
