What Foods Have Caused You to PB?

Recommended Posts

I tried to eat a bite of a bisquit, my first try on something like that since banding, and chewed it to practically liquid and the second bite was torture. It was not going down. I made the mistake of trying to take a sip of chocolate milk hoping to wash it down,,, it made it much worse. I had to leave my classroom 3 times to go spit up mouthfuls of slime. Final trip to the restroom finally had the bisquit come up with the slime. Instant relief. I stuck to Soup for lunch and dinner, wont be trying bread of any kind for some time. It really sucked because I am just starting to enjoy mushies and softer foods, sure would like a piece of toast with my oatmeal, lol!

I wonder whether it will be foods that give me trouble now - I cant eat bananas, hard boiled eggs or McDonalds burgers without getting that huge golf ball in my chest feeling. They always do it to me! I bet you anything I wont be able to eat those foods once I'm banded.

How long does it take for you to realize that your band doesn't like a certain food and that you are going to PB? After the first bite? Or does it take a few bites?

I had a crazy thing happen last weekend. I ate about 3 or 4 oz. of Halibut and felt full. About 10 minutes later I started to feel like I couldn't swallow my own spit. I ended up having alot of pain in my stomach and throwing up for about 6 hours, all the while spitting spit.

I guess it got caught and couldn't go through and all the liquid that would acumulate had to come up. Finally it must of moved through and I was able to fall asleep.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
