Stupid question: after tummy tuck?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have 25-30 pound to lose before I consider having PS:thumbup:. My port is already visible when Im naked:thumbdown:, so I assume when I will have lost all my weight its gonna be worst... ;)

But after a Tummy Tuck and Lipo, I didn't see ennyone here complain about there port sticking out:confused: where did it go lolll mine is under my left breast and I have asked my surgeon to change it to a low profile port when my tummy tuck will take place but I still have doubt:unsure: about the low profile, if it will still show or not? do you ladies have experience this?

Thanks

I have the same concerns that you do. My TT is March 15 and my port is on my rt rib cage above my waist and sticks out a little now. I have a lot of scar tissue, too. My PS doesn't do anything with the port....I will have to have more surgery later to change to a low profile if what I have sticks out after my TT.

Good luck,

Mimi

Hi Ladies:

I'm guessing it all depends on where your port is and how deep it is. My port is just below the middle of my rib cage and it's not visible at all. There is a scar above it, but other than that it's not noticable at all. Mine feels like it's only about 1/8 inch below the skin but it doesn't stick out at all.

I know that there are plenty of people whose ports are noticeable.

I know that my plastic surgeon spoke with my band surgeon before my banding. She discussed my being unfilled prior to the plastic surgery. She told me that she wasn't even going to touch my port because it was high enough that it wouldn't be in the way of my Tummy Tuck.< /p>

It'll be interesting to read how others respond.

Sue

My port is very visible now, and I only have a little excess stomch skin. I can tell you, when I take my tiny roll and pull it down, as in a Tummy Tuck, my port pops out like an ice cube on my stomach. I would have no choice but to change to a low profile and I'm guessing THAT would be visible too.

Maybe it's because I am 42, but I'm not so bothered if anyone can see my port. It is attached to the bottom of my ribcage and has been visible for months now (I've been at BMI 25 for about 6 months). The way I see it:

I'm about to have an inverted T abdominoplasty which will leave me extensively scarred but with nice body contours - so I'll look normal in clothes - if anyoneknows me well enough to see me without my clothes they are more than likely to have been told about my surgery, so seeing the port should be no surprise. But then again, as i said, I'm 42 - I'm married - I've got 4 kids ranging in age from 20 to 3 - I'm no threat to Naomi Campbell or Victoria Beckham - such is my life that a port, especially when it doesn't show when I'm fully dressed is just part of the wallpaper and not really important inthe scheme of things - well, not to me, anyway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
