Many people will disagree with me here... But I'm a FIRM believer in listen to your body, not your doctor.

I did what my body was telling me (moved to mushies on day 3) and my recovery was rapid. I didn't have nausea or anything like that though, where you would need to be careful because you do. I had the nurse scold me for moving up too fast but when I sat down with the surgeon he said it was fine. That if I was intune with my body enough to know what it needed to continue doing that because it's obviously working for me. However most people are not.

That being said, if you call your surgeon chances are they'll allow you to move up to mushies, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, etc..

As for the BR visits I can't relate, but it sounds more like you're having a bad reaction to the anethesia than the band.. Either way double check with your Dr and make sure everything is ok then get something in you, if you think you'll feel better.. can't hurt to try it. Either way, Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Thanks, I saw some others w/ the same issues and just decided as you said to listen to my body and move on... I really don't feel my stomach can tolerate being that empty anymore.. I feel the acid is irritating it. I just took a couple of bites of pudding we'll see. Thanks for the advice.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
