rosstheboss 21 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi, Hope someone can offer some help. And sorry so long. I was banded May 1st 300/lbs. Have been overweight my whole life and yo/yo diet for last 45 years. I am 52 I have lost 50/lbs which seems slow. My weight has been virtually the same for last 2 months. I started a workout diet program in Sept, nutritionist once a week, daily log. started working out 3x a week now upto 5x weekly. burn off 400 to 500 calories at the gym so 2000+ Cal a week. My nutritionist has me on 1500 to 1600 cal a day. She has been increasing this every few weeks started around 1000 cal. Weight loss has been slow and she says we are working on fixing my slow metabolism. I have told her in the past that I loose weight when really cut the carbs. She agreed now to reduce carbs to 40% with 50% Protien 10 Fats. Seem to be loosing but very slowly. Was on the LAP-BAND® Journiy web site, went to the Nutrition site and they seem to be pushing very low carb, Adkins type. As for my fills, my last fill was in mid Sept. Due to Insurance I had about 4 fills between May and Sept. A bit faster than is recommended. Untill a week ago I was having PB Daily. I still have some discomfort when I initally start to eat. It seems that in the Evening I can eat anything but in durring the day it can be hard. Hunger is not usually an issue except at night. Also the nutritionist has me eating 3 meals and 3 Snacks a day. Like post workout protien shake etc. she knew about weight loss surgery and she said she is up on it. I was thining of scheduling an apt with my origional WLS nutrionist. But hate to pay when I am already paying for the Gym, Nutrionist and trainer. Any thougts? In the eveing I can eat alot. OH! one more thing! I FEEL GREAT! And cannot remember being this fit. No more back problems due to stronger core etc. __________________ Banded May 1st - 300/lbs Dr. Enoch, Cary NC
silvers320 12 Posted January 23, 2010 Congrats on feeling great. I will say that I always worry when people say they PB every day - that should not be an acceptable norm. Look at why its happening - are you eating too fast? The wrong food? Long term PBing is not good. I think 1500 calories a day with 500 calories of burn off doesnt seem like enough for me - but what do I know. I will say I had to do the 3 meals -3 Snacks thing or else I would eat so fast I would be PB for an hour. I also notice there are some night where I wonder if I left my band at the office because I feel like I could eat all night long. Thankfully those are rare. I eat some - I drink Water. A lot of water on those nights.
rosstheboss 21 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks for your comments, fortunally I have not had a PB in a week or so. But i have been doing more Protien shakes early in the day and making a point to eat really slowly. eating out is especially a problem, I often get stuck but once I pb it seems better. Know this is not good. I seem to be moving towards more slider foods that are not great either. Just have to keep up the fight and find what works. Lowering the carbs helps as once I start hard to stop, so really avoiding any bread and Pasta. Well thanks for your hlep ROSS
